San Antonio Volcano Visitor Center

According to its geological age, La Palma is the youngest of the Canary Islands, an archipelago of volcanic origin. Because of this, the island’s history has been troubled by periodic eruptions of the Cumbre Vieja, an active volcanic ridge extending from the El Paso municipality through Fuencaliente, passing through Los Llanos de Aridane. Eruptions in this area were chronicled even before its conquest, which ended in 1496.

Puntagorda Market

Puerto Espíndola

Diving in Puerto Espindola means immersing yourself in the universe of colour and nature offered by the seabed of San Andrés y Sauces. An underwater spectacle in which you can see sea sponges, soft corals, amberjacks, groupers, parrotfish, dreamfish, bream, damselfish and other species typical of the Canary Islands. Also, if you are lucky, you might be able to see manta rays, stingrays or angelfish. For the more daring, one of the most highly recommended activities is night diving in the area. It is very easy to reach the site by car, as there are several car parks in the area. The dive starts from the harbour or from the beach and takes you all along the coast of San Andrés y Sauces.

La Zamora

TRADUCIRThis beach, located in the municipality of Fuencaliente, is divided into two areas thanks to a rocky barrier. There is Zamora Grande (Zamora big) and Zamora Chica (Zamora small). Located under a cliff, the black sandy beaches are about 150 metres long and 15 metres wide. Due to the depth of the local water, the area is recommended by divers.

Parque El Granero

Built in 2018 and with a surface area of 253 square metres, the El Granero playground is an ideal place for children. It is located on Calle Real, next to the Church of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria – a place of cultural interest – and was inspired by the old granary (owned by the church) that occupied the same place to the south of the church. The aim is to make future generations more aware of cultural heritage.
