The allegorical representation of the Battle of Lepanto is an emblematic event that marks the culmination of the Fiestas in Honor of Our Lady of the Rosary in Barlovento. Declared a Cultural Heritage Site (BIC), this representation faithfully recreates the historic naval battle that occurred in the Gulf of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The reenactment, dating back to 1690, features Turkish castles made of wood and paper, and Christian ships sailing in a sea of grass and bushes. The story narrates the struggle between the marines of Don Juan of Austria, including Díaz Pimienta and his militias from La Palma, and the Turkish forces of Ali Pasha. This event generates great enthusiasm among the locals and attracts numerous people, who actively participate in the preparations and enjoy the development of this unique celebration.
